Meet & Greet at Phydeaux Chapel Hill, October 18, 1-3 pm
Join us for a Meet & Greet at Phydeaux's spacious Chapel Hill store to help spread the word about Greyhound adoption. We always have good traffic at Phydeaux, so bring your Grey & a soft dog bed for some time with the public. Hope to see you there!
Fall Picnic at Lake Jordan, Saturday November 1st, 11 am to 3 pm
Come take a stroll in the woods, enjoy the fall foliage, and cozy up with your favorite dogs in front of the fire. Spend a great day at the lake, rain or shine, for the NCGAP Fall Picnic. We'll be back at shelter #6, which is large & covered, for a potluck picnic with lots of room for everyone & their dogs. We'll have a fire in the fireplace, hot coals in the grill, bottled water and ice in the cooler, and maybe a few biscuits on hand for the doggies!
Please bring something to grill, a dish to share, and a bed for your pup. And, yes, we'll be making S'mores - it wouldn't be a picnic without them! Plates, bowls, tableware and water will be provided. Electricity is available if you need it. If you have firewood you could spare, please toss a piece or two in the car, as well. Hope to see you there!
This is a money-free event, so you don't need to worry about being hit up for funds. There is no admission fee to the park, and no event fee. Just come and enjoy a relaxing day with the dogs. (All Greyhound-friendly breeds are welcome, but any canine resembling a squeaky toy should probably stay at home this time!)
General directions (& advice) from the Park's website are as follows: The Park address is not listed on any GPS system, so if you attempt to use that method it will misdirect you. Follow these directions: Jordan Lake State Recreation Area is located in Chatham County, 21 miles southwest of Raleigh off US 64, and can be reached via NC 751 or US 15-501 from Durham and Chapel Hill.
Parker's Creek: The entrance to Parker's Creek is on US 64. If traveling west on US 64, go over the bridge on Jordan Lake & the entrance is on the right. If traveling east on US 64, the Parker's Creek entrance is the first left after seeing the lake.
